The 11 days long Ganesh festival celebrations has finally ended on Anant Chaturdashi (Thursday ,September 14th) when Lord Ganesh Idols will be immersed into the water.This custom tradition is done all across India including cities like Hyderabad, Pune, and Mumbai. This Lord Ganesh immersion day is called as Ganesh Visarjan in some parts of India.In the Telugu States i.e Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, it is celebrated as Vinayaka Nimajjanam.
Even Hyderabad City Police has made massive security arrangements for Ganesh immersion in Hyderabad. Around 20,000 policemen from law and order, Task Force, Special Branch, Armed Reserve, City Security Wing, traffic branch have been deployed in the city and will be on duty round the clock till the immersion procession concludes.The festivities were being monitored at the command and control center through CCTV cameras.
Necklace Road and surrounding areas leading up to parts of Secunderabad and other parts of the city will be locked down.Traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place on Thursday from 9am to 8am on Friday.
This year for first time Shobha Yatra of 58-feet tall Khairathabad Ganesh idol starts at 6 am on Thursday and Immersion in Hussain Sagar take place around 2 pm.Usually, Kaiarathabad immersion takes place on the end of a day but on the request from higher officials, the organizers changed the plan.
