Salman Khan’s big Eid release Sultan will now be dubbed into Tamil and Telugu to capture the South Indian market. The decision was taken in the light of Salman’s extended popularity in the South.
So far, Salman was the Sultan of the North. But Prem Ratan Dhan Payo changed that. The dubbed version of the film performed very well in spite of competition from big Tamil and Telugu films. Sultan will be released like any big release in those markets, says the source. With the unexpected onslaught from Hurricane Salman, several Tamil and Telugu films scheduled for July are being rescheduled.
Produced by Yashraj films and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Sultan is based on the life of three times Haryana state wrestling champion, Sultan Ali Khan. It also features Anushka Sharma in the female lead role and Randeep Hooda and Amit Sadh in pivotal roles. Salman’s last release ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ was also released in the Tamil and Telugu versions
According to the film’s director Ali Abbas Zafar, Sultan, which is based on the life of Olympian wrestler Sultan Ali khan, will be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu. The Tamil and Telugu versions will be released on July 6 simultaneously with the original Hindi version.
