Film-maker Ali Abbas Zafar has hit the jackpot with his third Bollywood film. Sultan, a 170-minute wrestling saga starring Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma, is breaking box-office records this month and looks set to become the most successful Hindi film of all time. As expected it reported tremendous performance through out its opening weekend and received overwhelmed response from audience. Critics have also reviewed it with favorable comments, which generated strong word of mouth about it.
After such a big amount of income in first 2 weeks now the film is heading to cross the 500 Crores mark in lifetime. Start of this weekend has been noticed quite well even after other latest options in the theatres. Third Friday i.e. 18th day collection of Sultan has been recorded at around 4.50 Crores*. Third week is expected to see mix reaction from the audience.
The movie is now all set to broke the record of Bahubali 400 Cr. If we talk about the overseas then Sultan is the first movie to collect that much of earnings at the overseas box office. At the end of the 2nd week movie had a box office collection of more than 115 Cr. Till the 16th day of the film Sultan had a collection of more than 300 Cr in hand.
By the third weekend, it is positively expected to surpass the lifetime business of Dhoom 3 (284.27 crores including Hindi, Tamil & Telugu versions). Wednesday was pretty similar to Thursday with a slight fall across the country and after it as the new weekend has started so the film has got better public than the weekdays. Blockbuster of the year Sultan is now top movie as the film has crossed the magical mark on the 16th day. It has also covered its cost already from the 1 week service and now the film is running in total profit.
