Shivaraj Kumar is basking in the success of his back-to-back films Killing Veerappan and Shivalinga. The actor is aiming at a hatrick with his latest film, Santheyalli Nintha Kabira, which is also known as Kabeera. Like his previous two films, Santheyalli Nintha Kabira is not a masala entertainer. The latest movie is a period film, which tells the life and times of social reformer Kabir. Shivaraj Kumar has paired up with Sanusha in the film, which also features Tamil actor Sarath Kumar in an important role.
Avinash, Sharath Lohitashwa, Ananth Nag, Sanjjanna Galrani and others are in supporting roles. Bollywood’s popular musician Ismail Darbar has made his Sandalwood debut with Santheyalli Nintha Kabira and a few tracks out of the nine songs have impressed the Kannada audience. While Naveen Kumar is the cinematographer, Vishwa is the editor of the Kannada movie.
The movie primarily deals with the social evils that existed during the 16th century. Kabir fights for the values that he believes in and brings social reforms. The Kannada movie tries to throw light on his revolutionary activities with some commercial elements thrown in.
The movie is actually a biopic taken from the Bollywood movie Kabira Khada Bazaar Mein, brought by Bhisham Sahni. The original screenplay was a bit altered according to the Kannada movie taking. Apart from the main lead, Sanusha and Sarath Kumar will be seen in other pivotal roles. A star hero taking up such a different subject is definitely going to take the movie to a new height.
