Akshay Kumar is having the time of his life lately, if we talk professionally. Since he decided to balance out the various genres, it has worked out perfectly well for him. If he does a heavy duty Airlift, there is also a Housefull 3 to take the heat off. Then there is Rustom which falls in the thriller genre that released today alongside Hrithik Roshan‘s Mohenjo Daro. Now, Airlift was easily one of his biggest hits not only in India but worldwide too. In UAE-GCC, it had become the actor’s biggest opener and now Rustom has taken the second spot.
Rustom is significantly ahead of Mohenjo Daro till now. Rustom‘s opening occupancy across cinemas is anywhere between 40 to 50 per cent, while Mohenjo Daro‘s opening occupancy is about 30 per cent.” He also predicted the first day numbers of both films in the domestic market saying, “Looking at the current trends, Rustom will make Rs 12.50 crore to Rs 13 crore on day one, while Mohenjo Do will make Rs 8 crore to Rs 8.50 crore.
Bollywood celebs like Amitabh Bachchan have also praised the film and called it a gripping tale. The film has taken inspiration from the real life incident of naval officer KM Nanavati. Rustom deals with a true story of love, passion, murder, morality and justice that shook the nation.
Rustom had a solid opening day at the domestic Box Office. As predicted by us, Rustom first day box office collection will be in the range of 13 to 14 crores. The final numbers will depend on the performance in the late night shows. Rustom is the fourth highest opening day grosser of 2016 after Sultan, Fan and Housefull 3. Akshay Kumar’s star power has worked in the favour of the film. With good reviews and solid opening day, the movie is all set to enjoy a big weekend at Box Office.
