WWE Roadblock pay-per-view event featuring Raw superstars closed out the year in Pittsburgh, Pennyslvania with an end to some rivalries, forming of new alliances and creation of new rivalries. In terms of the title matches, where there was change of hands in one, the other one continued to remain around the waist of a familiar person.
The last two matches of the night at PPG Paints Arena were for the title and the first one featured Sasha Banks defending her Raw Women’s Championship Title in a 30-Minute Iron Man match against Charlotte Flair. In what was supposed to be the final contest in a long rivalry, Charlotte reclaimed the title after the duel was forced into sudden death overtime following the 30 minute period produced no winners.
The stipulation for the battle was clear – person with most falls at the end of the 30 minute period would be the winner and there would be no rematch. The two went at each other from the word go but the first fall wouldn’t come until the 20th minute when ‘The Queen’ hit a Natural Selection off the top rope to pick up a three count and go 1-0 up.
In the final match of the night, Kevin Owens defended his WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns. And Owens remained the champion at the end of 2016 when buddy Chris Jericho got involved and forced a disqualification. However, it wasn’t all hunky-dory for Jeri-KO as they were attacked by Seth Rollins who had earlier beaten Jericho.
