Pink may have opened slow at the box office on Friday but the film has gathered speed with each passing day. The film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang, Angad Bedi, Piyush Mishra and Dhritiman Chatterjee in key roles, is winning at the box office thanks to a very strong word of mouth.
Pink was thought to be promising from its trailer and the audience were waiting eagerly for the movie. It released and swiped the audiences with it powerful impact. Being a social drama the plot is very serious and proved the belief wrong that a serious movie never earns good money! Pink started its business on its release day with 4.32 Crores that increased to Rs. 7.65 Crores, Rs. 9.54 Crores on its next two holidays (Saturday and Sunday). Pink has minted a satisfactory amount of 2.8 crores (approx) on its 7th day.
This contemporary youth-centric film conveys a strong, socially-relevant message about the choices young women of today make and about respecting those. Narrated in a linear manner, the simply presented film, essentially a courtroom drama, is powerful because of its dialogues and performances.
UAE & USA-Canada contributed maximum. Total: $ 978,744 [₹ 6.55 cr]. Then on the next day i.e. Wednesday, it reported slight more drop and added the amount of 3.30 crores* to its account. With this, 7 days total collection of the movie has become 32.10 crores* on domestic box office. Meanwhile, there is a strong demand to make the film tax free.
