The Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation finally called off the strike based on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vinayan’s statement, that the organisation should withdraw their statement and attend talks organised by the government on January 25 to sort out various issues. And now all the pending releases will be finally out this month. Mohanlal’s much awaited – Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol will hit theatres on January 20.

Last year, we saw Mohanlal in four movies – Manamantha, Oppam, Janatha Garage and Pulimurugan. Manamantha marked his comeback to Tollywood after a long gap. The story’s unusual line and Mohanlal’s non glamorous role was the highlight of this movie. Then came along his second Telugu release – Janatha Release where he played a powerful supporting role. The movie went on to fare phenomenally at the box office as it crossed the Rs 100 crore mark.

Mohanlal‘s blind act was lauded and then came along, the biggest win – Pulimurugan. The story about man-animal conflict became the first Malayalam movie to collect Rs 100 crore worldwide. Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol was to release last year marking his 5th release, but that got pushed to next year, courtesy the strike.

Mohanlal essays the central character Ulahannan in the movie, which will have Meena in the role of his wife, Anniyamma. The movie which is directed by Jibu Jacob, depicts how Ulahannan and Anniyamma rediscover the lost love in their marriage. Anoop Menon, the actor-writer appears as Ulahannan’s neighbour cum best buddy, Venukuttan. Jacobinte Swargarajyam fame Aima Sebastian and Sanoop Santhosh essay Ulahannan and Anniyamma’s kids, Jiny and Jerry.
