MS Dhoni The Untold Story starring Sushant Singh Rajput is likely to become the third highest grosser of this year, leaving behind Rustom starring Akshay Kumar. MS Dhoni movie has so far collected Rs 121.48 crore, which is around Rs 6 crores less than Rustom’s lifetime box office collection. Rustom has collected Rs 127.49 crore, giving Akshay Kumar another hit this year besides Housefull 3.
In the opening week, Neeraj Pandey’s directorial recorded terrific occupancy through out and did the business of total 94.13 crores with 66 crores of weekend and 28.13 crores of weekdays. Then in despite little hyped Mirzya it remained unaffected and raked the business of 27.35 crores total that included 15.17 crores of weekend and 12.18 crores of weekdays.
Interestingly, top three hits of this year include Airlift and Rustom — both of them having Akshay Kumar in the lead role. It is interesting to note that Salman Khan may have given the biggest hit of this year, Sultan, but it is Akshay who has emerged as the top star power. Akshay Kumar’s three releases — Airlift, Rustom and Housefull 3 — have earned a whopping Rs 364.73 crore. Salman comes second with Rs 300.45 crores. Sushant has managed to book the fifth spot on star power list.
Now it has entered in its third week and still witnessing enough occupancy in theaters despite number of new movies. On its third Friday, Sushant Singh Rajput starrer reported little drop than previous day and added the amount of 1.87 crore* to its account. With this total 15 days domestic collection of M.S.Dhoni The Untold Story has become 123.35 crores*. The movie is positively expected to surpass the lifetime total of Akshay Kumar’s Rustom (127.43 crores) by this weekend.
