Mohenjo Daro has turned out to be a nightmare for its producer. The movie has flopped big time. The movie has been made with a huge budget of 120 crore. It is seeing difficult for the movie to even recover its production cost. It is not that it has been proved a complete washout. But keeping in mind the amount spent on it, the movie has definitely failed to impress the masses. The expectations from this movie was very huge and it was expected to cross 200 crore. But in reality the movie has made just over 50 crore from India and its second week is about to over.
Fans of Hrithik and some audience showed favorable behavior toward the movie but this was not enough to drag it to the safe side. Despite high promotion and higher screens than Rustom, it witnessed response and lagged behind by much difference. In the weekend too, Mohenjo Daro didn’t showed any considerable growth and has come to an end. From the very first day of release, Mohenjo Daro is struggling on box office and did the business of total 51.18 crores in the opening week.
The movie has collected 55 crore from India so far to be exact. And if we talk about its overseas box office collections than they are somewhere around 25 crore. So the movie is finding it difficult to cross 100 crore mark. And 100 crore is not a guarantee of success for this movie because it has been made with a budget of 120 crore. So we hope that somehow the producer should be able to recover some money. Because nobody want to see anyone loosing that much money.
Total collection of Mohenjo Daro was recorded as 55.06 crores on domestic box office and 26.20 crores from overseas market. Now the movie is running in weekdays and as usual getting lesser occupancy than before. On Monday, it faced almost 40% of drop than last Friday and minted 0.60 crore. With slight more drop in the occupancy, it did the business of 0.50 crore on Tuesday. This might be its last week to get considerable response because from Thursday new Hindi movie A Flying Jatt is getting released with good buzz.
