Mohenjo Daro is an Epic Adventurer film written and directed by Senior Director Ashutosh Gowariker, earlier who made so many adventurers, historical films like Lagaan, Jodha Akbar and few others. Siddharth Roy Kapur produced this film along with Sunita Gowariker. Film title itself says that this film is all about Mohenjo Daro people, their living style.
In the opening week, Mohenjo Daro reported an average occupancy through out across the country and did the business of 51.18 crores, including 30.55 crores of weekend and 20.63 crores of weekdays. From overseas market, it did little better business of 24.13 crores in the first week. Now the movie is running in the second week and due to new releases, received lesser response in the weekend than expected. On its 2nd Friday, it faced almost 50% of drop than previous day and raked the business of 2.10 crores*. Then on the next day being Saturday, it showed little rise in its business and collected 2.60 crores*.
Mohenjo Daro film made with 100 crore budget. The film has excellent Cinematography, mind-blowing visual effects and everything perfect to impress the audience. The major impact of this film, that the film had to compete with Akshay Kumar’s Rustom. As a result, the film is making small collections. Though the box office collections of the movie consistent since ten days but the movie doesn’t make huge collections.
On the last day of weekend i.e. Sunday, it showed better performance than last 2 days and estimated to add the amount of 3.75 crores* to its account, With this total domestic collection of Mohenjo Daro till its 2nd weekend will become 59.63 crores*. As compare to its whopping budget of 115 crores, the movie has tagged as one of the biggest flops of the year so far.
