The most anticipated movie among all releases of this week, Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher starrer action-romantic drama Mirzya has taken slow start on box office against the expectations. Despite the stunning visuals and the appreciable performances of debut actors, this love saga has got failure in impressing critics as well as audience.
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s directorial Mirzya recorded the below average occupancy of 15-20% across the country including single as well as multi screen cinemas and did the business of 2.20 crores. Then on the next day i.e. Saturday, being weekend the movie showed little growth and raked the amount of 2.30 crores*. With this, its 2 days domestic total has become 4.50 crores*.
The story of Mirza and Sahibaan is part of Indian folklore that was almost forgotten with time that director Rakesh Omprakash Mehera has brought back with great intensity. But it is surprising the movie has attracted only a certain section of the audiences and got mixed reviews. The effect was visible in its second day box office collection of Mirzya. The ticket buyers are a certain section who is very impressed with the poetic love story.
It is astonishing that the Mirzya has attracted the international audiences more than the Indians and the overseas business is healthier than in India. Mirzya got a huge response from the Middle East and USA. Mirzya second Day box office collection in overseas is 11.5 Crore (approx). it seems the folklore concept has more appreciation in International market than in India.
