Director Ranjith’s upcoming movie Leela is set to hit the cyber space on Friday, April 22. The Biju Menon-starrer will be released on the website www.reelax.in. Leela narrates the story of a mahout Kuttyappan’s strange relationship with an orphan girl. The movie, based on a short story written by Unni R, also has Vijayaraghavan, Suresh Krishna, Indrans, Sudheer Karamana, Jagadish, and Priyanka in significant roles.
Leela is the first Malayalam movie releasing online on its premiere day and audience all over the globe would get an opportunity to watch the movie. The audience can watch the film after pre-booking it via the website reelax.in for an amount of Rs. 500 and the purchased movie has to be watched within a week. However, if the user plays the movie once, it should be watched within that day as it will expire in 24 hours.
Like many of his iconic characters created by him, film director Ranjith is not someone who lets himself be dictated by circumstances. He enjoys calling the shots and the making of his latest movie, Leela, is proof of that determination and passion for cinema. Things came to a head when Ranjith, ignoring a call for a strike by the producers’ association, went ahead with the filming of Leela, after paying the rates demanded by technicians. That became the trigger for a cold war between Ranjith and the producers’ association.
Starring Biju Menon in the lead, Leela plays on his character’s fetish for elephants. Biju acts as Kuttiyappan, while Parvathy Nambiar acts as Leela. Leela is layered with humour and memorable scenes. I am sure the audience will enjoy this Leela, as much as many of them enjoyed reading the story
