Dhanush and Trisha Krishnan starrer Kodi have considered being a hit Tamil movie of the year as it maintained a great performance at the box office from the day of its release. Kodi was released on 28th October during the festive weekend of Diwali, and it also received a tough competition from Kaashmora, another big ticket Kollywood release of Diwali. The numbers regarding Kodi box office collection are totally unexpected.
Kodi was released in two versions, Tamil and Telugu and surprisingly the Telugu version of the film named Dharma Yogi performed extremely well in the theatres of Andhra and Telangana. The success news of Kodi is quite prominent as 75 new screens have been included in Tamil Nadu, while in Andhra Pradesh 30 screens have been increased.
Karthi’s Kaashmora (Kashmora) has registered better collection than Dhanush’s Kodi at worldwide box office in the first weekend and topped the global collection chart for south Indian films this Diwali season.
Kaashmora has also made brilliant collection in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala. The movie has collected approximately Rs 11.10 crore gross in these regions in the first weekend. On other hand, the business of Dhanush’ film is not up to the expected mark in these areas. Kodi is estimated to have collected over Rs 6.5 crore in these regions in its opening weekend.
