For the on-air launch of ace comedian Kapil Sharma’s comeback TV entertainer The Kapil Sharma Show on April 23 on Sony Entertainment Television, channel Colors will screen filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s widely lauded movie Bajirao Mastani instead of Comedy Nights Bachao. Kapil came into the limelight through Comedy Nights With Kapil, which was replaced by Comedy Nights Live after the ace comedian had a falling out with Colors channel officials due to various reasons. Kapil is now coming up with The Kapil Sharma Show on a rival channel.
Such major changes to the schedule usually take place during some special occasions, hence this step by Colors TV seems to have been made with the intention to prevent viewers from watching Kapil’s new show. The Kapil Sharma Show will include Ali Asgar, Sunil Grover, Sumona Chakravarti, Kiku Sharda and Chandan Prabhakar and the team is apparently not bothered about the rival channel’s tactics to sabotage its new show’s TRP.
They can air Bajirao Mastani one Saturday. But what are they going to do every week after that? Nobody can sustain these kind of attacks, SpotboyE quoted a team member as saying. The relationship between Kapil and Colors TV had turned sour after the former felt that the channel was favouring Krushna Abhishek’s Comedy Nights Bachao at the cost of Comedy Nights with Kapil. He had alleged that the content of his show was being repeated on Krushna’s show, indirectly affecting the uniqueness of the older show.
While many were hoping there will be a competition of sorts between Kapil and his contemporaries – Krushna Abhishek and Bharti Singh, hosts of Comedy Nights Bachao the Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon actor decided not to do so and changed the time slot of his show to 9 p.m. The Kapil Sharma Show will mostly feature the same cast that was seen in Comedy Nights with Kapil including Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda, Ali Asgar and Sumona Chakravarti among others. The first episode of the show will feature Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
