Kahaani 2 Review by Taran Adarsh, Rajeev Masand- Komal Nahta, KRK, Anupama Chopra Kahaani 2 Review

As Friday nears, Kahaani readies for it’s second installment Kahaani 2, which will hit the theatres. The mystery element in the sequel has been doubled with the central character, Durga Rani Singh (Vidya Balan), being accused of murder.

When it comes to emotions, the actress has broadened her repertoire with mind-numbing expressions. The story revolves around Vidya Sinha (Vidya Balan) and her daughter Mini who live peacefully in the sleepy town of Chandan Nagore.

The trailers piqued the audience’s interest further as the film, presented by Jayantilal Gada (PEN), is the second instalment of the Kahaani franchise. Come Friday, and all the speculations will be put to rest as cine-goers will finally come to know whether Vidya Balan’s character in this suspense thriller is a wanted criminal or an innocent mother, who is in search of her daughter.

Durga Rani Singh plays both the victim and perpatrator for the viewers. The movie progresses in a non-linear fashion where you get to see events in the present and from the past, when Durga Rani Singh lives with her husband. The question posed to Indrajeet singh is if Durga Rani Singh is really a victim, as revealed in her diary.

The angle of diary as the narrator of the past seems eerily similar to Gillian Flynn’s Bestselling book Gone Girl, which was later also made into a movie by the same name. Whether the entire story is similar or not, the trailer surely promises something new for Hindi movie audience.
