The most-awaited movie of Superstar Rajnikanth’s Kabali has released on July 22, 2016. Though the movie gained a mixed review, Rajnikanth fans enjoyed the movie a lot. Rajnikanth’s performance is one of the highlights of the movie. As per the public talk, the story of the movie is not impressive and the direction is said to be lagging.
Kabali had superb pre-release hype and promotions in the Telugu-speaking states, where the film was released in over 550 screens, and it had good advance booking for its first weekend. The movie opened to an overwhelming response and collected approximately Rs 12.40 crore at the AP/T box office on the first day. The film became the biggest opener for Rajini, beating the record of Lingaa.
Kabali has minted Rs. 21.5 crore in Tamil Nadu, Rs. 6 crore (net income Rs. 4.5 crore)in Andhra Pradesh, Rs. 4.5 crore (net income Rs. 3.14 crore) in Telangana, Rs. 7.7 crore (net income Rs. 4.03 crore) in Karnataka, Rs. 3.05 crore (Rs. 2 crore) in Kerala and from the rest of India the film has grossed Rs. 7 crore (Rs. 6.2 crore) to take the total India box office collection to Rs. 52.8 crore with the net come of Rs. 47.2 crore.
Kabali collection from northern India comes to Fri 5.20 cr, Sat 6.20 cr. And Sun 7.1 cr. Total: ₹ 18.5 cr. Kabali has earned Rs 90 crore abroad in the first weekend, out of which Rs 28 crore came from the US itself. Kabali has made decent collection in other parts of India and surpassed Rs. 100 crore mark in just three days. The movie has collected Rs. 128 crore gross at the Indian box office in the first weekend.
