Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had undergone treatment in Apollo Hospitals Chennai for about 73 days since her hospitalization on September 22nd this year. As per an estimation, The medical expenses of the CM has crossed Rs 80 crore-mark during this period.
According to the Media reports, the entire second floor of the Apollo Hospital consisting of 30 rooms was vacated. Going by the tariff put out by Apollo Hospital, rent per day for 30 rooms has been known to be around Rs one crore. The charges are extra for the consultation charges of 39 Apollo doctors, medicines, bills of Dr Richard and his team who flew in from London several times, and the charges of physiotherapist from Singapore.
Of this total amount, the Tamil Nadu government is footing only the Rs 2 crore bill towards the rooms. Sources at Apollo Hospitals reveal that part payment of the Rs 3 crore bill towards Dr Beale and the physiotherapist has already been done by Sasikala. She will also pay for the room that she occupied for 75 days.
