Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt’s latest film Dear Zindagi not only met critics’ expectations, but also that of the audience.
The Gauri Shinde directorial held strong numbers at the box office over the weekend. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the film earned Rs 8.75 crore on Friday across 1200 screens in India alone. On Saturday, that figure rose to Rs 11.25 crore and on Sunday, it went up to Rs 12.50 crore. Which means in the first three days, Dear Zindagi Collection Rs 32.50 crore at the domestic box office alone.
As the movie has released on last Friday in India and did a commendable business over the weekends the box office collection of the movie has already crossed its budget. Made with only 22 crores, Dear Zindagi has tried to maintain the subtlety with this little budget and is responsible for its huge craze. The movie got almost 78% occupancy all over India on its release date, but its focused audiences are the multiplex-goers.
Overseas, the film did considerably well earning Rs 27.45 crore in its opening weekend. That brings the tally up to Rs 59.95 crore. That’s quite a good performance, considering that the film is not the usual kind of SRK film – with a big budget, wonderful songs and a beautiful romance. Dear Zindagi is a slice-of-life film for a niche audience and keeping that in mind, we can say for sure it is definitely going strong.
