Director of 2012’s English-Vinglish, Gauri Shinde came up with her new offering last week, titled as Dear Zindagi. Being an interesting drama movie and beautifully crafted, it is getting overwhelmed response from audience across the globe. It stars superstar Shahrukh Khan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
As now audience has got diverted, so SRK-Alia starrer faced a drop of 25% than previous day and added the amount of 2.25 crores to its account on 2nd Friday. On the next day i.e. Saturday, Dear Zindagi reported decent growth in its occupancy and estimated to collect 3.50 crores* from Indian screens, to make its 9 days domestic total as 52.75 crores*.
The film continues to perform for more than 3 days in a row. The movie was definite hit as Bollywood had faced repeated flops once after another. Among the 1200 screens in India, almost 800 screens were from the multiplexes. The 400 single screens didn’t receive as much response. Along with that Dear Zindagi was released in over 154 theaters in the overseas market.
The producers had decided not to run off for many numbers of screens. It was a strategy to mint out the maximum occupancy with efficiency. It’s also an interesting fact about it is that film earnings keep on growing for all the three days. The successive rate indicated a good opportunity for SRK who didn’t experience this much increment with past films.
