Aamir Khan has a huge fan following in overseas countries like UAS, UAE and Canada. His last three movies, 3 Idiots, PK and Dhoom were big blockbusters in these regions. Aamir Khan’s latest release Dangal has also taken a superb opening in UAE. As per the official figures, Dangal collected AED 2.5 million (4.64 crores) on Thursday previews at the UAE Box Office. The movie has recorded the second highest opening day of 2016 in the region.
Since Dangal has received positive reviews unanimously, it will definitely help the film to show substantial growth over the weekend. Dangal has received the second biggest opening after Sultan, considering the morning shows and it might become 2nd highest opener of 2016. Around 26 t0 28 crores Day 1 box office collections are expected. The film has no big competition for 3 weeks straight, until OK Jaanu, which will release on 13th January, 2017.
Dangal was released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil in over 4,300 cinema halls across the domestic market today. The movie hit the screens in the key international markets two days ahead of its Indian release. The makers had its special screenings for critics and celebrities before its release. The film garnered extremely positive verdict from the foreign audience, critics and celebrities.
Aamir Khan‘s 2013 release Dhoom 3 collected Rs 36.22 crore nett at the Indian box office on the first day and it has been the biggest opener for Mr Perfectionist. But his 2014 release PK, which collected Rs 26.63 crore nett, had failed to beat this record. However, early trends show that Dangal will shatter the records of PK, but it should be seen whether it would overtake the benchmark set by Dhoom 3.
