Dangal is all set to beat the record that Aamir Khan’s PK had set in 2014-15 as it races to become the highest grosser of 2016. The biopic on former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters is doing overwhelming business at the domestic box office. The Aamir Khan-starrer is getting immense love and adulation from the audience. It’s not even been two weeks and the film and has already collected Rs 295.14 crore in India alone.
Dangal is doing extremely well, Aamir’s PK had collected more than Rs 324 crore at the Indian box office, according to the source. The difference is just Rs 28.86 crore, which is lesser than Dangal’s collections from last Sunday. When the movie goes on to cross Rs 300 crore, it will become only the fourth film – after PK, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan – to touch the huge mark.
Dangal reported only 30% of drop than Friday and registered the business of 13.45 crores. With further decline, the movie added the amount of 10.46 crores to its account. On the next day i.e. Wednesday, it faced slight more drop and estimated to collect 9.25 crores* to make its 13 days domestic total as 304.40 crores*. Form international market too, Aamir starrer is getting wonderful response and minted 158.70 crores till Tuesday.
Based on the real life of former wrestling champion Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta Phogat & Babita Kumari, Dangal has impressed everyone very much. Because of such strong content and brilliant performances by the lead actors, the movie has received super positive reviews from critics as well as moviegoers. This is why, it still has excellent hold over the audience and running exceptionally in its second week too.
