Virat is leaving cricket nor Abhishek is saying no to his acting dream, this is all done for a charity Football match in which Indian Test-skipper Virat Kohli led cricket stars are to take on Abhishek’s Bollywood brigade. The charity match is set to take place in Mumbai on Saturday, 4th June. This is not the first time that an event of this type is taking place. Earlier also cricketers and actors have battened on the football field. That time it was Ranbir Kapoor Vs Mahendra Singh Dhoni. That event was for charity too.
Abhishek is to lead All Stars Football Club in the match which is run by Abhishek’s Playing for Humanity charitable organization. Virat heads the football part of the Virat Kohli Foundation named All Heart Football Club. The “Celebrity Classico” is to take place in Andheri Sports Complex’s football arena. Apart from their love and passion for football, a large crowd is expected to come and watch their favorite cricketers and film stars sweating and battling out for a good cause.
Virat and Abhishek’s love for football is not new. Virat owns a part in the ISL (Indian Super League) football team Goa FC and is also its brand ambassador. Virat takes both these roles very seriously as he admitted many times. Abhishek is the owner of Chennaiyin FC and is seen in pretty much every match to support his side. Mahendra Singh Dhoni also holds a stake in the franchise.
Football has a special place in both Bollywood and the cricketing world. Apart from Abhishek, John Abraham (North East United FC) and Ranbir Kapoor (Mumbai FC) also own a team in the ISL. Football is an essential part of the Indian cricket team conditioning and pre match warm-ups. This don’t come as a surprise as India’s limited over’s captain M.S.Dhoni was a goalkeeper first and loves taking part in the beautiful game.
