The makers of Emraan Hashmi-starrer Azhar have released today and it looks quite promising. Apart from Emraan, the film also features Prachi Desai, Nargis Fakhri, Huma Qureshi, Lara Dutta and former Bigg Boss contestant Gautam Gulati in the lead roles.
After Sushant Singh Rajput’s MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Bollywood is coming up with another biopic on a former Indian cricket skipper’s life journey. Directed by Tony D’Souza, Azhar is based on the life of former Indian cricket skipper Mohammad Azharuddin and highlights his achievements, the match-fixing controversy and his much-publicised affair and marriage with Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani.
Prachi will be seen as Emraan’s first wife Naureen in the upcoming sports biopic, while Nargis will play his second wife Sangeeta’s character. Prachi and Emraan have earlier worked together in Once upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010). Gautam plays Ravi Shastri’s character in the movie, which is slated to be released May 13. Azhar seems to be a roller-coaster ride and Emraan looks perfect in the shoes of Azharuddin in the Azhar Trailer. Earlier, the Murder actor revealed that the ex-skipper was by his side and helped him prepare for the role.
Remember the song Oye Oye from Tridev (1999)? The song which even today continues to be fondly remembered as a chart buster of its time, will be recreated for Azhar. That’s interesting, given that nowadays so many songs are being used and reprised in films. Oye Oye also featured Madhuri Dixit and Naseeruddin Shah. It will be interesting to see Nargis Fakhri give her own twist to the famous number
