Kisan Baburao Anna Hazare is an Indian social activist who led movements to promote rural development, increase government transparency, and investigate and punish corruption in public life. Anna is the Indian biographical film, produced by Rise Pictures Private Limited and directed by Shashank Udapurkar, the maiden directorial venture of the well-known Marathi actor, who also plays the lead role of Anna Hazare, and has penned the dialogues and screenplay.

A film based on the life of Indian social activist Kisan Baburao Anna Hazare. Not many people know that Anna has also been a soldier and farmer before embarking on the journey of activism. From a fearless soldier, a hard working farmer to a social revolutionary, Anna Hazare rose to prominence with his fasting and protest against rampant corruption in the country.


The film is slated to release on 14 October 2016. Bollywood’s biggest war is happening at the box office now and let us hope that this film Anna is going to get maximum attention and reviews. The Movie Anna director Shashank Udapurkar, addressed the media that he has received a formal consent from Anna Hazare for making a biopic on the anti-corruption activist. The director has revealed this on April 2014 and the film finally happened which is getting into the theatres from tomorrow.

It is a 130 minute long Hindi feature film and has been shot for over a year at locales in Hazare’s native village Ralegan-Siddhi in Ahmednagar Maharashtra , Mumbai, New Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Rajasthan.

The teaser gives one a glimpse into various phases of activist Anna Hazare’s life. Anna Hazare himself promoted his biopic on The Kapil Sharma Show. In the film, we can see Shashank Udapurkar as Kisan Baburao Hazare, Tanishaa Mukerji as Journalist, Govind Namdev, Narendra Jain, Kishor Kadam, Daya Shankar Pandey in other supporting roles.
